● Delicate Expressions and Movements
The MaikoDoll captures the elegant posture and gestures unique to Maiko, crafted to appear beautiful from every angle. The face, shaped by the skilled hands of a master doll maker with over 30 years of experience, exudes a serene beauty with a slightly shy smile. The eyebrows and eyelashes are meticulously painted one by one with a fine brush, finished with the distinctive makeup of a Maiko.
● Kimono and Obi (Sash)
The doll features delicate and vibrant Yuzen patterns that can be enjoyed throughout the seasons, paired with a luxurious brocade obi with traditional motifs. The doll is dressed using the “Kimekomi” technique, which originated at Kamigamo Shrine in Kyoto during the Edo period.
● Hairstyle and Hairpins
The rich black hair is styled with silk to faithfully replicate traditional Maiko hairstyles, such as "Ware-shinobu" in the first year and "Ofuku" from the second year onwards. The hairpins are adorned with Swarovski beads and lacquered coral, adding a touch of elegance.
● Obidome and Accessories
The obidome, known as "Pocchiri," is set with gemstones like amethyst, moonstone, opal, ruby, tanzanite, and citrine, carefully matched to the kimono's color scheme. These stones reflect beautiful light depending on the viewing angle and time of day.
● Charm
MaikoDoll is designed not only to faithfully recreate the beauty of a Maiko but also to look stunning from every angle. It harmonizes with any room in any season. The subtle changes in hairstyles and attire reflect years of experience, respecting traditional culture while incorporating modern sensibilities.
